Doha: Al Sailiya relied on a brilliant double by Mohanad Ali to grab full points against Al Gharafa with a 4-2 win while Al Kharaitiyat defeated Al Khor  2-1 in their respective QNB Stars League (QSL) matches yesterday.

At Al Ahli Stadium on the final day of the fifth round of the League, Mohanad (5 and 71), Mohammed Mudather (45+3) and Ahmed Hammoudan (60) scored for Al Sailiya.

Muad Hassan (26) and Jonathan Kodjia (35th minute) found the target for Al Gharafa.

Al Sailiya and Al Gharafa are now on seven and nine points respectively in the QSL standings.

Mohanad revved up the pace in the early stage of yesterday's clash which  saw high drama right from kick off. Both teams matched each other ball for ball but Mohanad started the scoring act, with Mohanad being spot-on after he was put through by Mudather. The Iraqi striker evaded the marking of Al Gharafa defender Hector Moreno before shooting the ball home.

Al Gharafa fought back and struck twice to take back the lead.

Muad fired home a free-kick with precision to beat the Al Sailiya goalkeeper Amine Lecomte. Kodjia then found the target with almost a solo effort. During the first-half injury time, the Mudather-Mohanad combination made sure the scores stay level before the whistle.

There was no respite for action in the second half as well. After Kodjia’s header was saved with difficulty by Lecomte in the 55th minute, Al Sailiya scored twice more.

Hammoudan nodded home from close a faulty headed clearance by Homam Elamin off Tiago’s cross on the hour mark. Mohanad then pounced on the ball after Al Gharafa defender Almahdi Ali failed to control it given to him in the form of a short thrown pass by goalkeeper Qasim Burhan and slotted the ball home.

As the game neared its end, Hammoudan and Al Gharafa’s Ahmed Alaaeldin hit their shots against the left upright and Al Sailiya cruised to victory.

Yesterday's result raised Al  Kharaitiyat's points tally to 6 while Al Khor remain at 3 points.
