DOHA: The Qatar International Court, yesterday discussed ways to increase cooperation with the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), part of the World Bank Group.
Enhancing cooperation could come through host joint event, and exploring how to enhance cooperation in different practices and applications, particularly in the technological fields. This came as part of the visit paid by the delegation of Qatar International Court, chaired by CEO of the court Faisal Rashid Al Sahouti, to the headquarters of ICSID in Washington. He met with ICSID’s Secretary-General Meg Kinnear, QNA reproted.
The meeting saw a review of the main investment challenges and difficulties that Qatari citizens face as a result of the unjust blockade enforced on the State of Qatar. A delegation from Qatar International Court is participating in the State’s official delegation attending the ICSID members’ meetings in Washington, which focus on discussing the proposed revisions to the center’s rules of procedure.
The CEO of Qatar International Court also met with the head of the World Bank Group unit responsible for preparing the Doing Business annual report. The publication focuses on the competitiveness of the commerce and investment environment for each country in accordance different legal, investment, judicial, and commerce-related criterion. Al Sahouti gave an overview during the meeting of the important role the Qatar International Court was playing in protecting investors’ rights and property. He also discussed the Qatar International Court’s role in enhancing the role of law.
