Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar, represented by its permanent delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has participated in the twelfth session of the Sub-Committee on the Implementation of IMO Instruments, which was recently held at the IMO headquarters in London, United Kingdom.
This participation reflects Qatar's commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at developing mechanisms for implementing international maritime instruments and conventions, ensuring their effective implementation, and enhancing member states' compliance with international requirements related to maritime safety and security and the protection of the marine environment.
This contributes to raising safety and efficiency levels in the maritime transport sector and protecting lives, property, and the marine environment.
During its meetings, the Committee discussed several technical and organizational topics related to the implementation of IMO instruments, including monitoring the Member States Audit Scheme, analyzing maritime accidents and drawing lessons learned, reviewing data and procedures related to port state control, and enhancing the performance of flag, port, and coastal states in fulfilling their international obligations.
