Al Suwaidi continues to dazzle in the final round of Hathab Series

Doha: Qatari rider Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi continued to shine in the final round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour with another flawless ride on Cantaro 32 as he sealed his second Big Tour win within 24 hours at the Al Shaqab Arena yesterday.

The Qatar Armed Forces owned gelding clocked a time of 72.01 secs in the first round of the Big Tour 130.140cm class as Al Suwaidi bagged QR4,200 in prize money. It was his third podium finish in the final leg of the 12-round series.   

On the opening day of the event, Al Suwaidi won the first and third places in the Big Tour on Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun and Cantaro 32 respectively.

In yesterday’s feature event, Aslan 69 with Nasser Al Ghazali finished second behind Al Suwaidi, clocking 73.73 to win QR3,375. Carport, with Faleh Suwead Al Ajami in the saddle (75.17 secs) was placed third and won QR2,625.

Nasser Al Ghazali’s What A Pleasure conceded four errors on its way to complete the round, but was the fastest among the top five (67.51). 

Winner Al Suwaidi rounded up the top five with a ride that lasted for 67.80 secs (four errors) on Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun to add further QR1,050 to his prize bag.

Earlier, Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi guided Henrico in an error-free ride to win the first round of the Small Tour, 100/115cm class. Mohammed Saeed Haidan and Apple Bee completed two rounds with jump off in the first round of Medium Tour 120/130cm class in 58.98 secs to win the top prize of QR2,500.

Today is the final day of the last round of the Tour.
