QSE Index falls 21.63 points

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index dropped 21.63 points or 0.24 percent yesterday to close at 9,088.01 points. On the weekly basis, the index lost 108.61 points or 1.18 percent.

Trading value last week decreased by 7.60 percent to reach QR1.33bn compared to QR1.44bn. Trading volume decreased by 8.75 percent to reach 56 million shares, against 61.4 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 2.92 percent, to reach 19,305 transactions as compared to 19,886 transactions.

Market capitalisation fell by 1.52 percent to reach QR506.18bn last week compared to QR513.97bn at the end of previous week. Industries sector led traded value with 30.33 percent of the total. Banking and financial services sector accounted for 26.39 percent, consumer goods and services sector (14.63 percent) and telecoms sector (12.89 percent).

Industries sector led traded volume last week with 31.99 percent of the total. Telecoms sector accounted for 24.64 percent, banking and financial services sector (19.22 percent) and real estate sector (11.46 percent).

Banking and financial services sector led traded number of transactions last week with 27.31 percent of the total number of transactions. Industries sector accounted for 23.76 percent.

Consumer goods and services sector accounted for 12.23 percent and Real Estate sector accounted for 11.99 percent. From the 45 listed companies 17 ended higher, while 25 fell and three unchanged.

Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company led trading value last week accounting for 14.48 percent of the total. Qatar Fuel accounted for 9.58 percent and Vodafone Qatar accounted for 9.45 percent.

Yesterday, the volume of shares traded decreased to 7.8 million from 12.5 million on Wednesday and the value of shares decreased to QR194.9m from QR 330.4m on Wednesday.

Of the 47 companies listed on QSE, shares of 41 saw trading yesterday. From these, 20 companies gained and 21 closed lower.

Indices of five sectors ended in red and two sector ended in green today. QSE Total Return Index down 0.24 percent to 16,012.06 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index added 0.32 percent to 3,712.86 points. QSE All Share Index decreased 0.38 percent to 2,703.77 points.
