DOHA: The State of Qatar has become stronger under the siege imposed on it and all indicators reflect the progress achieved in various economic fields, said Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani.

Talking to reporters after the event organised by Qatar University, the Minister said Qatar is stronger under the siege, and this is reflected by all the economic indicators, including a 19 percent increase in imports and above-forecast growth, as well as the World Bank’s forecast that Qatar’s economy will achieve the highest growth rate in GCC in 2017-2018.

The Minister added that all parties in the State and its institutions are working hard under the current crisis and have endeavoured to consolidate the concept of social and community responsibility in accordance with the wise directives of Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
