DOHA: In cooperation with the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, Germany (ESMT Berlin), the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) is launching the dual executive master programme in business administration and public administration. Registration will open at the beginning of March 2018, with the academic year commencing in September 2018.
The first of its kind in Qatar and the region, students pursuing this programme will obtain two concurrent independent master's degrees in business administration and public administration from two prestigious educational institutions – the Doha Institute and ESMT Berlin.
The program aims at providing leaders and administrators in both the private and public sector with the scientific, practical and efficient foundations for business and public administration, in addition to developing their skills, training them on successful practices, and prepare them in how to deal with both private and public interests, and where these intersect.
Dr Hind Al-Miftah, Vice President of Administration and Finance at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, said that this programme supports Qatar's needs to help achieve its vision for 2030, by focusing on human development and by building a knowledge-based labour force to serve society and the state.
“The programme is designed to provide executives working in public, non-governmental and private organizations, with executive leadership skills, to enhance their professional capabilities in decision-making and strategic planning and enable them to perform efficiently and effectively in institutions,” said Miftah.
Further, she added, this programme brings professionals on the fast track of senior leadership roles. Through an academic approach, it also empowers business owners and managers of small to medium-sized enterprises who recognize the importance of responsible leadership in innovation.
Dr Farid Al Sahn, Professor and Director of the Executive Master Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, saw that the programme offers a unique academic programme in the region in which participants get the opportunity to train and learn about the philosophy of the private sector in performing business and the philosophy of business people performing in the private sector. This programme, he said, promotes a sense of public affairs and social responsibility towards Qatari society. The design of the programme, concluded Sahn, serves the national strategy 2017-2022 aiming at economic diversification and the application of the latest management methods in public organizations and the business sector.
