The exhibition has also become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors and consultants; to enable them to determine their options and make decisions related to the construction process.
Sleem indicated that the exhibition had attracted about 200 local and international companies competing with each other to provide special offers, various products, and advanced technologies in the fields of construction, architectural design, decoration, and contracting, in addition to the technologies of smart and green buildings. The exhibition is also of great importance because of its success in bringing together the public and private sectors under one roof, which enhances service and awareness at the same time.
Sleem highlighted that (BYH 2021) exhibition will attract broad international participation from Kuwait, India, Oman, Turkey, and Pakistan, which reflects the tremendous global confidence in the Qatari market and enhances the options for the visitors of the exhibition.
Sleem added that all the protective measures against Covid-19 would be applied during the event to preserve companies’ safety and health, participating entities, and visitors and to ensure the best safe experience. The new edition of (BYH 2021) has more exhibitors, experts, and even new sectors, such as companies specialized in smart solution technology and green building, to provide more benefits and solutions that citizens need. In addition to organizing a series of monthly webinars preceding the actual exhibition to cover all the interests of the target audience and holding workshops that allow participants to build partnerships and relationships with industry leaders and specialists and obtain a certificate of participation.
Sleem stated that the exhibition also allocates a particular area for young designers to showcase their creative work. The competition will be held before the exhibition.
He added that the local market witnessed a growth in the real estate transactions by 36 percent, reaching QR31.21bn in 2020 compared to QR22.7bn in 2019, which reflects the recovery of the real estate market and other related sectors such as: contracting, building materials, interior design, and decoration. Also, government spending on significant development projects included in the 2021 budget will stimulate the real estate market’s growth, especially after the law regulating the ownership and use of real estate by non-Qataris has entered into force. As it allows foreigners to own real estate under the controls after the issuance of Cabinet
Resolution No. 28 of 2020, specifying 25 areas in which non-Qataris may own and benefit from real estate, and the conditions, controls, benefits and procedures for their ownership and use of them.
Sleem clarified that the development of citizens’ lands is at the top priorities of the 2021 budget through two phases at a total cost of QR37bn. The cost of the 1st phase of developing citizen’s lands is QR16.5bn, which includes a total of 11.989 plots in 13 areas. In comparison, the cost of the 2nd phase is QR20.5bn that include 21.424 plots distributed over 19 areas, in addition to projects in fields such as health and education.
He further explained that the development of citizens’ lands, the completion of the infrastructure projects, and the projects related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup will stimulate the recovery of the construction, design, and contracting sectors, supported by the momentum of government spending on projects. While the private sector will actively participate in the projects as mentioned earlier backed by the government that considers it a major partner in the development process, especially since the 2021 state budget reveals the list of the newly approved projects, in coordination with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), at a value of QR53.9bn, and it is scheduled to be awarded during the period from 2021 to 2023.
