QSL Cup: Al Duhail and Al Kharaitiyat set up final clash

Al Duhail and Al Kharaitiyat will clash in the final of the QSL Cup after registering resounding semi-final wins here yesterday.

In the first semi-final, a brace each from Valentin Lazar and Mohamed Razak helped Al Kharaitiyat trounce Al Gharafa 4-1.

Later, Al Duhail trounced Qatar SC 4-0.

At the end of half time play, Al Duhail led 3-0.

Edmilson Junior gave Al Duhail the lead in the 11th minute and Youssef El Arabi added a second one in the 23 minute.

Saltan Al Brake added the third one in the 29th minute to put his team in a dominating position.

In the second half, Al Duhail added a fourth one with Junior adding notching his second goal of the match in the 65th minute.

At the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Al Kharaitiyat and Al Gharafa shared a goal apiece at the end of half time play.

In the second half, Al Kharaitiyat raised their level of play by several notches three goals and take the match away from Al Gharafa.

In the first session, it was Al Gharafa who held sway over the proceedings and had 63 per cent ball possession as compared to Lazar’s 37.

Al Kharaitiyat  got off to a good start and gained success in the 17th minute with Lazar scoring the first of his two goals from the penalty spot.

Al Gharafa, however, bounced back to draw level through Amro Abdullfattah Seraj in the 28th minute.

Goaded by a goal, the Cheetahs created several goal scoring opportunities but failed to get one past the rival keeper.

In the second half, Al Kharaitiyat came up with a much improved show. Both teams tried to take the lead but it was Al Kharaitiyat which took the lead in the 72nd minute through Lazar.

The Romanian took full advantage of the loose ball on the right flank, essaying an angular drive which broke through the defense of the Al Gharafa keeper Qasem Burhan.

Al Gharafa chances of bouncing back suffer a setback as Al Kharaitiyat added two more goals within a span of five minutes to effectively take the match away from the Cheetah’s.

Razak struck in the 84 and 89th minute to complete the emphatic win for Al Kharaitiyat.
