Arabian Gulf Cup: Iraq wins opening match against Qatar 2-1

In a passionate match that kept Khalifa International Stadium’s almost full crowd in toes, Iraq won the opening match against Qatar 2-1 in Arabian Gulf Cup’s opening match.

Till half-time, Iraq was leading with 2 goals against a goalless Qatar.

Abdulaziz Hatem brought Qatar’s consolation goal at 49th minute.

Iraq’s match winner was Mohammed Qasim who shot at the goal post at 18th and 27th minutes.

Earlier HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani opened the 24th edition of the at Khalifa International Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The opening was attended by HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH the Personal Representative of HH the Amir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
