DOHA: Two second-half goals yesterday lifted Al Rayyan to a 2-1 win over Al Sailiya at Al Ahli Stadium in their QNB Stars League round 10 clash.

Veteran strikers Sebastian Soria (71) and Rodrigo Tabata (82) scored the goals for Al Rayyan after Al Sailiya’s Abdul Qadir had found the net close to the first-half whistle.

In the 15th minute, Al Rayyan’s Brazilian forward Lucca Brito outran his marker and charged towards the Al Sailiya box. Right on the edge of the box the feared Brazilian striker unleashed a powerful shot that was smartly saved by Al Sailiya keeper Saoud Al Khater. In the 24th minute, veteran winger Nadir Belhadj was shown the yellow card for a reckless tackle on Al Rayyan’s Daniel Goumou.

In the 34th minute, Al Sailiya’s Rashid Al Rashdi fired a bullet from close range but Al Rayyan’s Dami Terawari was quick to block the shot by turning his back to the threat. The ball hit Dami’s back and went for a corner.

A few moments later, Al Rayyan skipper Tabata - after a cross from Ibrahim Masoud - flicked the ball towards the net by keeper Al Khater punched the ball away.

A minute before injury time, Qadir scored for Al Sailiyah after picking up a cross from the centre of field. Despite being given chase by defender Terwari, Qadir trapped the ball close to himself before firing it past keeper Omar Barry.

After numerous attempts at goal, former Qatar striker Soria found the net for Al Rayyan in the 71st minute. Soria headed the ball into the net on a long cross from the flank with an airborne dive to meet the ball.

With momentum on their side, Al Rayyan scored the second goal in the 82nd minute when Tabata tapped the ball into the net from close range following a cross from Lucca standing nearby.
