Nakilat holds shipping forum in London

DOHA: Owners of shipping companies shared ideas and their experience related to shipping operations in Qatar Project Shipping Forum (QPSF) organised in London by Nakilat- the shipping arm of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.
QPSF is as an important platform, established and organised by Nakilat in 2006, to address concerns covering a wide array of topics including shipping safety, technical, marine environment, logistics, and it gives an opportunity to exchange ideas related to shipping operations.
This semi-annual forum brings together many owners of leading international shipping companies along with ship charterers such as Qatargas and RasGas.
Topics discussed during the two-day forum were current issues of common interest and relevant to safety, operations, environmental laws, and maritime regulatory.
Other topics discussed include operational matters, exchange of expertise and relevant skills such as marine personnel employment and maritime training on advanced technologies that would enhance safety and contribute to the reduction of operational costs.
 “We at Nakilat strive to ensure the continuation of our global growth, which contributes to the creation of a safe competitive environment and efficient operations in the future,” said Abdullah Al Sulaiti, Managing Director,  Nakilat.
“Therefore, it is essential to continuously exchange experiences and ideas with our partners as owners, operators and charterers in the areas of maritime industry and in particular gas shipping,” he added. Nakilat is a Qatari LNG transport company providing an essential transportation link in Qatar’s LNG supply chain.
Its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising of 63 LNG vessels.
“As Nakilat organises and holds QPSF in its 20th cycle this year, we aim for the exchange of experiences and ideas to build and strengthen the strategic partnership between all parties and the essential role played by the Qatari companies. Many thanks to the participants wishing that the constructive discussions at the Forum were beneficial to all,” he said.  
Nakilat also owns and manages four large LPG carriers. It  operates the ship repair and construction facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City via two strategic joint ventures: N-KOM and NDSQ.
Nakilat also offers a full range of marine support services to vessels operating in Qatari waters.
