Doha: A delegation of Qatar gymnastics team left for Belgium to participate in the 2013 Antwerp World Championships, which begins today.
President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) Ali Al Hitmi is head of the delegation which left for Belgium.
Speaking on the eve of the team’s departure the QGF official said participating in the competition will benefit the team.
“Our gymnasts will be compete against strong teams who have a vast experience in the sport. Competing against such experienced campaigners will help our players,” said Al Hitmi.
“The participation will also help the Federation evaluate the performance of our players and help us with valuable inputs and an opportunity to find out as to where Qatar stands in this game,” he added.
Al Hitmi said the team is fully geared up for the championship after undergoing an intensive training camp ahead of the event.
The QGF official disclosed that said that the federation is looking forward to participate in as many events as possible with a view to to give more exposure for the Qatari players. QNA
