Doha, Qatar: A firefighting helicopter yesterday crashed into a lake in France while collecting water to help battle wildfires in the country.
A witness captured the moment when the helicopter descended on a lake in Rosporden in northwest France, carrying a Bambi Bucket, a large and collapsible water-carrying vessel, before it spun out of control and crashed in the water.
Local reports indicated that the pilot, the officer aboard the helicopter, and a witness were taken to a hospital with no fatalities reported.
Reports further quoted officials confirming that measures have been taken to contain the risk of pollution in the lake following the crash.
