INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organisation and a member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, will host the Mubadara Awards Ceremony online via Zoom on August 31, 2020, under the patronage of H E Dr. Mohammed Abdulwahed Al Hammadi, Minister of Education & Higher Education.
Mubadara, also known as the Annual Young Entrepreneurs Competition Awards Ceremony seeks to recognise some of Qatar’s most outstanding young entrepreneurs. The company program and Mubadara are INJAZ Qatar’s most interactive and popular education program and event during which student enterprises are established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognised “Company Program”.
It has evolved to become a prominent event in the INJAZ Qatar calendar of activities. Student teams were provided with the unique opportunity to establish and run a real business over a period of five months with the guidance of professionals from leading businesses across Qatar. Seventeen student teams made it to the final stage of the program; 10 student teams from Qatar’s independent, private and international secondary schools and 7 teams from universities in Qatar. During the program, students go through the entire life cycle of a startup venture as they develop a business idea, form a team, raise capital of up to QR11,000, devise business plans, and produce and sell a product or a service. Towards the end of the five months of activity, students present their entrepreneurial ideas before a judging panel of business leaders from the local market.
In the upcoming Mubadara 2020 Awards Ceremony, the innovative products and services developed by the student companies will be exhibited and the winners of this year’s competition will be announced giving them the opportunity to represent Qatar at the INJAZ Al Arab regional finals.
Students will receive one of seven awards, which are: The Best Company of the Year award sponsored by ExxonMobil, the Most Innovative Product/Service award sponsored by Qatar Development Bank, the Best Marketing Plan award sponsored by Ooredoo, the Best Social Impact Award sponsored by HSBC, the Public Choice Award sponsored by Frame along with the Best Company Report and Best Public Presentation awards.
The team winning Best Company of the Year Award (University level) will be given ongoing support by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) and seed funding of QR35,000 from BOEING to start their real business.
Ibrahim Al Mannai, Executive Director of Advisory & Incubation at QDB, said: “Investing in the human capacity and the development of local talent is one of our top priorities at QDB. We are therefore very delighted to be a partner in this program and pioneering initiative. We continue to support and nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs by incubating their winning projects and contributing to building an ideal business environment for them. This is part of the strategy that both the bank and its partners follow in Qatar as part of the two key pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. These are fostering a healthy and capable national workforce to achieve a prosperous society and developing and diversifying the national economy.”
The Awards Ceremony will host INJAZ Qatar’s Board Members and representatives from the private and public sector including the education sector in Qatar.
