Doha, Qatar: The United Arab Emirates' National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has clarified that a technical malfunction in the country's early warning system on Friday evening, June 26, resulted in the accidental sending of incorrect warning messages.

The Authority confirmed that the issue has since been addressed and resolved.

The statement followed an emergency alert sent by the Ministry of Interior to residents across the UAE warning of a "potential missile threat." Minutes later, the ministry issued another notification instructing recipients to "disregard the previous warning."

"The specialized teams immediately initiated the necessary corrective procedures upon detecting the issue, in accordance with approved plans to ensure service continuity and minimize any potential impact on users," the Authority said.

"The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the relevant entities apologize for this unintentional technical malfunction, and extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to members of the community for their understanding and cooperation during the response period, and for their commitment to following official guidance and obtaining all information from official sources," it added.

The Authority also urged the public not to circulate information from unofficial sources and to rely only on updates issued through approved channels to ensure the accuracy of information and support the efforts of preparedness and response teams.
