Doha, Qatar: The Qatari-Maltese Business Meeting was held yesterday via videoconference. The Qatari side was chaired by Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, Board Member of Qatar Chamber and Chairman of the Food Security and Environment Committee, while the Maltese side was chaired by Dr. Marthese Portelli, CEO of The Malta Chamber, with the participation of several Qatari and Maltese businesspersons.

During the meeting, both sides discussed trade cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them, particularly in the fields of Technology, AI & Cybersecurity, Financial Services, Fintech & RegTech, corporate services and public administration, as well as infrastructure and hospitality.

Speaking at the meeting, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli affirmed the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Malta, as well as the shared desire to strengthen cooperation across various fields, especially in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors.

Al Obaidli pointed out that trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Malta achieved positive growth last year, reaching about QR46.4m, compared with nearly QR40.3m in 2024, recording growth of approximately 15%.

However, he noted that this figure remains below aspirations.

He added that the private sectors in both countries enjoy attractive investment opportunities across many sectors, stressing the importance of exchanging visits and holding joint meetings, whether in person or through digital platforms, due to their significant role in bringing the business communities closer and introducing them to the investment climate and available opportunities on both sides.
