Hathab Series Final Round: Al Suwaidi steals the show on day 1

Salmeen Sultan Al Suwaidi completed two brilliant rides to shine during the feature event of the opening day in the final round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour while Mohammed Nasser Al Qadi and Mohammed Saeed Haidan secured the Small and Medium Tour honours yesterday.

At the Al Shaqab Indoor Stadium, Al Suwaidi guided his 10-year-old gelding Guilder’s Empire Of The Sun to win the Big Tour and later rode Cantaro 32 to seal the third place in the same class.

The Qatari rider won QR4,125 for his Big Tour win following an error-free ride which took him 76.28 seconds complete. During his second run, Cantaro 32 made four errors. The gelding clocked a time of 69.71 as Al Suwaidi added QR2,625 to his prize bag.

Ulano, ridden by Faleh Suwead Al Ajami spent 78.50 secs to complete the same task to win the second place.

Earlier, Haidan completed an error free ride on Apple Bee to win the Medium Tour event. Haidan’s 14-year-old mare spent 64.32 secs to complete the round as the popular rider got richer by QR2,500.

Daydreamer EC, with Saeed Nasser Al Qadi in the saddle, was placed second (65.97 secs) and won QR2,000. Mohammad Hazim Abara (Ambre De Beaufour, 70.57 secs) completed the top three.

Mohammed Nasser Al Qadi (Vlacido, 49.76 secs.) won the Small Tour in the final round of the 12-leg championship and won QR1,250 in prize money. Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi (Fudine, 51.69) and Khalifa Abdulla Al Khaldi (Dusty) were placed second and third respectively.
