DOHA: The fourth meeting of Qatar-UK strategic dialogue (Sharaka) was held here yesterday. The Qatari side was chaired by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and the UK side was chaired by UK Minister of State for the Middle East Alistair Burt.
“Almost exactly a year since Theresa May signed an agreement with the Prime Minister of Qatar to increase cooperation between our two countries, I was delighted to attend the fourth Sharaka dialogue with Qatar, with whom the UK has enjoyed a close partnership for many years,” Burt said.
“The UK reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Qatar’s 2030 National Vision, and the 2022 World Cup. We agreed to strengthen our relation-ship and broaden our cooperation in a number of areas. These include working together on humanitarian and security issues to build a safer and more prosperous future for Qatar, the UK and the wider Middle East region,” he added.
Sharaka is one of the most important mechanisms for the development of bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the UK. It is responsible for follow-up of decisions, files and projects, supporting the bilateral track and exploring opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
