Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem and his accompanying delegation arrived yesterday in Madrid to participate in the 143rd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU) and the 208th session of the IPU Governing Council, which are set to take place tomorrow and will last for five days.
The meeting, held under the theme “Contemporary challenges to democracy: Overcoming division and building community,” will include all of IPU’s bodies.
This includes the Governing Council, permanent committees, the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights, Committee on Middle East Questions, the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, and the Forum of Young Parliamentarians.
