Qatari Businessmen Association holds meeting with Armenian President and trade delegation

DOHA: The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) organised a meeting with the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, and his accompanying delegation. The delegation included the Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of National Fund.

The meeting was also attended by Gegham Gharibjanian Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Qatar. The high-level delegation is in Qatar to discuss the cooperation opportunities and develop economic relations between the two countries.

Representing QBA, Saud Al Mana, QBA Board Member, and QBA members Khalid Al Mannai, Nabila Abu Issa, Maqbool Khalfan, Ihsan al Khiaymi and Mohamed Althaf and QBA Deputy General Manager Sarah Abdallah attended the meeting.

Addressing the event highlighted the importance cooperation between the two countries and the need to work together to boost bilateral economic and trade relations. He also pointed out the interest of Qatari businessmen in identifying possible areas of cooperation in Armenia and the potential investment opportunities in Armenia.

For his part, the President Armen thanked QBA Members for hosting the delegation. He underscored the importance of developing relations between the two countries and getting more acquainted with the business environment in Armenia and some of the major investment projects that may attract the interest of Qatari businessmen.

The QBA members elaborated on the potential partnership opportunities available for Armenian investors in Qatar, which included construction, automotive, food and consumer goods, banking, luxury goods and others. The President Armnen briefed QBA members on the most important sectors and investment opportunities in Armenia. He invited Qatari investors toe xplore the investment opportunities In Armenia’s tourism and mining sectors.

There is huge investment opportunities in Armenia’s natural resources sector, especially in copper, zinc, gold and lead mining industry. The education sector is another potential sector, he said. Armenia is the gateway to Eastern Europe, he added.

The QBA Members expressed their interest in exploring new international markets and their readiness to identify areas of cooperation in Armenia. They also confirmed their keenness to support and develop bilateral relations in various fields, the parties agreed to organize a visit to study these opportunities closely and learn more about the Republic of Armenia.
