Doha: Al Duhail’s Iraqi striker Mohanad Ali will be looking to make use of his experience of playing in Qatar when he joins his national team in the opening Group A match of the 24th gulf Cup against the home team tomorrow.

Ali played in Al Duhail’s Ooredoo Cup third round match against Al Sailiya at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium few days ago and placed a crucial part in their two-all draw.

Also, Ali was a starter for Iraq in the 2022 World Cup and the Asian Cup 2023 joint qualifiers and played against Iran and Bahrain before returning to Doha.

The Iraqi team, currently ranked 74th on FIFA points table, is one of the strongest teams in contest at the eight-team Arabian Gulf Cup which kicks off tomorrow.

The Qatar-Iraq opener will kick off at 7:30pm at the Khalifa International Stadium, and the Lions of Mesopotamia are all out to pose the Asian champions Qatar a huge threat. Yemen and UAE are the other two contenders in Group A.
