Jakarta: An earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck off the Indonesian coasts on Wednesday.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was 93 km southwest of the city of Ambon, which has a population of about 355,000 people.
Earthquakes regularly strike various parts of Indonesia due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
