Qatar SC fired five past Umm Salal without brooking any response in Week 8 of the 2019-20 QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium yesterday.

El Mehdi Barrahma (13th minute), Sardor Rashidov (63rd), Abdelnaser El Khayati (90th) and Adel Abdulaziz (90+1) scored the goals for Qatar SC, who were also helped by an own goal by Umm Salal’s substitute Ismail Dahqani in the 70th minute.

Qatar SC, who badly needed points to stay away from danger zone, took their tally to six, one more than Umm Salal.

It was also the second victory for The Kings, who have been showing improvement in performance ever since former Qatar international Wesam Rizik took over their coaching reins from Spaniard Carlos Alos Ferrer recently.

Umm Salal had more of the ball (60 per cent), but it was Qatar SC who created more opportunities and reaped the rewards for it.

To compound their woes, The Orange Fortress had to play with 10 men from the 62nd minute when Rami Fayez was red-carded (second yellow) for fouling Qatar SC’s Muattaz Majed.

After Qatar SC opened the scoring through Barrahma, who converted a free-kick past the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Yazan Naim, Umm Salal’s Victor Vazquez hit the side netting the very next minute.

Rashidov too hit the side netting and Umm Salal’s Mahmoud Al Mawas had his shot blocked by Qatar SC goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail as the first half drew to a close.

There was no let-up and Qatar SC added four more goals in the second session.

Rashidov fired in a free-kick and the own goal followed.

Umm Salal’s Murad Naji had his headed goal disallowed for offside in the 85th minute.

The closing minutes saw Qatar SC pump in two more goals, with Abdelnasser and Adel being on target.

Meanwhile at Al Wakrah Stadium yesterday, hosts Al Wakrah and Al Khor played out a goalless draw in Week 8 of the 2019-20 QNB Stars League at the Al Wakrah Stadium.

Al Wakrah now have eight points and Al Khor five. It was the second drawn result for both teams.

The teams tried hard to break the deadlock right throughout given the fact that they had dropped points in the recent rounds, but in vain.

The ball possession was also almost even. Al Wakrah, back in the top flight after playing two seasons in the Second Division, created more chances compared to their rivals, but failed to convert them to goals.

Captain Bruno Uvini held the Al Wakrah defence together, while Robert Alexander Melki was at the helm of Al Khor rear.

Al Khor also had goalkeeper Saoud Al Khater to thank for his saves.

In the first half, Al Wakrah’s young talent Mohammed Waad Al Bayati skied a long-range shot and their top scorer Mohamed Benyettou made attempts at the Al Khor goal, either side of half-time.The Al Khor attacks revolved around Tiago Bezerra. The Brazilian tried to make inroads into the rival territory.
