DOHA: Katara Art Studios is inviting Qatari artists to register and participate in the ‘Trapeze’ exhibition which will feature new artworks, including paintings, photographs, sculptures and video art.
Deadline for the submission of artworks is November 1 and the expo opens on December 16.
The expo will shed light on the Qatari artists’ efforts to achieve balance between heritage and modernity through artworks they produce. As Qatar sees development in various spheres and levels, artists would reflect this progress along with their heritage and tradition.
The exhibition will take people to a journey through time between the past and the future, between heritage and development and memories and aspirations.
Qatari artists who wish to participate are required to produce fresh artworks on themes which mirror Qatar’s economic development, architecture, health, tourism, education, industry and heritage.
The artist should be a Qatari and works should fall along painting, photo, sculpture or video art. The artist is also required to produce and submit not less than five new works for evaluation by a committee. Works should be submitted at Katara Building 19, with high resolution images of the work for the exhibition catalogue.
The committee comprises artists and art experts and will work under the supervision of Visual Art association team. All selected artworks will feature in the expo while some would be part of Katara’s permanent collection.
