DOHA: Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar Petroleum President & CEO, and his delegation ended a short working visit to Warsaw, during which he held talks with Polish officials on increased cooperation in the energy field.

Al Kaabi met Polish Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski and discussed ways and means of enhancing bilateral energy cooperation, particularly in the LNG sector. The meeting was attended by the State Undersecretary at the Polish Ministry of Energy, the Director of Oil and Gas Department as well as other senior officials.

Al Kaabi thanked Minister Tchorzewski and Polish officials for the excellent cooperation and the fruitful discussions that were held between both sides. He said “there is no doubt that our discussions have strengthened the foundations of our existing cooperation, and have built another layer of trust and confidence in Qatar’s world-class reputation as a safe and reliable LNG provider.” Al Kaabi and his accompanying delegation have met earlier with Piotr Woźniak, the CEO of Polskie Górnictwo Naftowei Gazownictwom S.A. (PGNiG). The talks, also attended by PGNiG deputy CEO and senior executives, focused on means to enhance and expand existing cooperation with Qatargas, the world’s premier liquefied natural gas company.

In March of 2017, Qatargas signed an agreement to deliver an additional one million tonnes per annum of LNG to PGNiG, raising the total LNG quantities to be supplied to PGNiG to two million tonnes per year. The agreement came into effect on 1 January of this year, and will be in effect until 2034. The additional LNG quantities are supplied from “Qatargas 3” on board Q-Flex LNG vessels to the President Lech Kaczynski LNG Terminal in Swinoujscie, Poland.
