DOHA: The Government Procurement and Contracting Conference and Exhibition (Moushtarayat 2018), organized by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), offers tremendous opportunities for interaction between local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the government bodies participating in the exhibition, in addition to strengthening cooperation between the private and public sector companies in Qatar.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Qatar Rail’s Managing Director and CEO Abdullah Abdulaziz Turki Al Subaie said that Qatar Rail’s participation in the conference aims at introducing the company’s opportunities to suppliers and contractors as well as the nature of the projects and procurement plans required for submission by the suppliers.
Al Subaie stated that Moushtarayat represents a good opportunity for the company to identify new providers and suppliers, adding that he was already able to meet representatives of new factories during the first day, thus re-identifying the local industry, the extent of its development and the latest products in the domestic market. Al Subaie noted that this is the company’s second participation in Moushtarayat, stressing that gathering the major bodies, ministries and companies in Qatar in one place for suppliers and contractors is a constructive idea that helps to build bridges to communicate easily between the two sides, facilitate the exchange of information and identify the local market and its capabilities.
Meanwhile, Director of Procurement And Contracts at Qatar Museums, Hamad Ali Abel said that the participation of Qatar Museums came to underscore QM continued commitment to supporting local businesses, especially SMEs, adding that QM seeks to participate in this the event to build relationships with local suppliers and provide them with information on potential partnership opportunities and familiarize them with the nature of the contracting in QMs.
Senior Procurement Officer at Katara Hospitality Nadia Traktar said that this is the first participation of the firm in Moushtarayat, which is an opportunity for the company to submit its tenders.
