Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour (MOL) said that, in reinforcement of occupational safety standards amidst the current weather fluctuations affecting the country, it urges all employers and workers to adhere to the preventive guidelines to ensure safety and maintain a secure working environment for all.
For worksites, the Ministry outlined conducting continuous risk assessment, particularly in exposed areas, as well as modifying or suspending high-risk activities as circumstances require, and ensuring drainage systems are fully operational and sites are secure.
In the area of workforce transportation, MOL advised adjusting working hours in accordance with prevailing weather conditions, confirming that vehicles are safe and fully operational, and adhering to safe driving practices at all times.
As for worker accommodation, the Labour Ministry outlined ensuring the worker accommodation is free from water accumulation and water hazards, conducting regular inspections of electric systems, and maintaining essential supplies and ensuring emergency preparedness.
MOL urged the public to prioritise safety by maintaining a clear and up-to-date emergency response plan, and to coordinate with relevant authorities as necessary.
