Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani met with the Confederation of Italian Industry (CII) Vice President Licia Mattioli yesterday to discuss new investment opportunities between the two countries. The meeting was also attended by the Italian Ambassador to Qatar Pasquale Salzano.

The meeting, the officials discussed various means of enhancing cooperation relations between the Chamber and the Federation, supporting trade and economic relations between the two friendly countries, and reviewed business and investment opportunities available in both sides as well as bilateral visits between Qatari businessmen and their Italian counterparts.

Sheikh Khalifa stressed the strong relations between Qatar and Italy at various levels, especially in the fields of trade and investment. He also pointed out that there are many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the industrial sectors, noting that Qatar has witnessed an industrial boom particularly in food industries which saw significant development over the past two years.

“Further, there are opportunities for cooperation between both sides in hydrocarbonic sector, as Qatar currently focuses on industries of high technology that are available in Italian industry”, he added.

Headquartered in Rome, the CII is the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy with a voluntary membership of more than 150,000 companies of all sizes, employing a total of 5,440,125 people.
