On his arrival in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani tweeted: “I thank His Excellency President Alassane Ouattara for his hospitality. A successful visit and fruitful talks where a road map was developed to promote the historic relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Qatar in various fields, especially energy, investment and tourism, in the interests of our two peoples.”
A similar tweet was posted by H H the Emir after holding successful discussion with the HE the President of Republic of Guinea Professor Kundi in which he said: “In the Republic of Guinea, in-depth discussions were held with President Alpha Kundi on ways to develop bilateral cooperation and friendship. During the visit, two agreements were signed in the fields of maritime transport, investment and several memorandums of understanding on food security, sports and others.”
From the Republic of Guinea, Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani moved on Friday to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire as part of his official visits to six West African states.
H H the Emir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Abidjan International Airport by President Alassane Ouattara of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Prime Minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly along with a number of ministers, senior officials and a number of tribal leaders.
President Ouattara lauded the first visit of the Emir to Côte d’Ivoire, expressing his pleasure for its great importance to both countries.
Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has been presented with the “National Medal of Merit”, the highest medal of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire by President Alassane Ouattara, in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace,
The President of Côte d’Ivoire hailed the wise policy of the Emir and praised the role of the State of Qatar in various fields and the development and renaissance witnessed by Qatar.
President Ouattara stressed that the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire is counting on advancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
President Alassane Ouattara said that the position of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire towards the Gulf crisis is fully consistent with the position of the African Union, which supports its solution through dialogue and diplomatic means.
For his part, H H the Emir expressed his thanks to the President and the people of Côte d’Ivoire for their warm reception and hospitality. The Emir stressed the importance of this visit in strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire at various levels for the interests of the two sides.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to deepen and develop the relations between the two countries and the prospects for cooperation between them, especially in the fields of energy, infrastructure, tourism and the promotion of investment opportunities at the private sector level. The two sides also discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas especially the two countries’ stance towards some of the challenges facing the world, such as terrorism and ways to combat it and stop its funding.
Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Ouattara witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan on Friday.
The agreements included an air services agreement, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of youth, a MoU for cooperation in sport and an MoU for cooperation in the field of culture.
