Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) School League in which 20 schools will compete will kick off today.
Announced on October 10, the School League is organised by QFA in collaboration with Supreme Education Council (SEC), and Qatar School Sports Association (QSSA) and sponsored by Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee.
The participating 20 schools have been divided into four different groups.
The tournament will run until the end of March next year and will be held in the training fields of Umm Salal, Al Gharafa, Muaither, Al Sadd, Al Arabi, Al Kharaitiyat, and Mesaimeer Stadium.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of QFA said the School League will help the Association spot new talent.
“We have formed a committee that focuses on the development of the School League. The School League plays an important role in allowing us to discover new raw talent at the school level,” the QFA official said here yesterday.
Rabeea Mohammed Al Kaabi, the Under Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education said: “We are very excited to kick-start the tournament as it is an excellent opportunity to unite football and education in a tournament that will benefit the students by developing their passion for the game and allowing them to display their talents.”
The participating schools are as follow: Al Shamal High School, Doha High School, Hamad bin Abdullah High School, Nasser bin Abdulla Al Attiyah, Al Zubara High School, Omar bin Abdul Aziz, Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Al Manna, Ibn Taaymiya High School, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Thani, Al Shahaniya High School, Mohammed bin Abdul Wahab High School, Tariq bin Zeyad, Al Sayliya High School, Jassim bin Hamad High School, Qatar Independent Technical School, Ahmed bin Hanbal High School, Abdullah bin Ali Al Misnad, Secondary School of Commerce, Mousab bin Omair School and Al Wakrah High School.
