Doha: Al Wakrah will be looking for full points when they take on Al Khor in their QNB Stars League Week 8 match today at Al Wakrah Stadium.
Coach Marquez Lopez side desperately need a win as they bid to move into the top half. With seven points from an equal number of matches, the Spaniard will be hoping to add to the two wins they have managed so far along with, one draw and four loss.
Lopez knows there are no easy matches for the picking and the tussle with Al Khor will be no different.
“All games in the league this season are difficult, there is no easy match. Al Khor is no exception and we have to be at the top of our readiness,” said Lopez, while speaking to journalists on the eve of the match.
“Our team returned to the league after spending two seasons in the Second Division. We are preparing for the Al Khor game with the intention of winning, which is very important,” he added.
“Our team is improving after every game. If we win, we go up in the ranking table. If we lose, we will work for victories in the coming games,’ said Lopez.
Meanwhile, Al Khor coach Omar Najhi said they have been playing well as a unit but the end results have not reflected the good work done on the playfield.
“The last period was an opportunity for us to rectify the mistakes we made in the previous games. We had done well in the matches so far, but we had not been winning in recent weeks,” Najhi said on the eve of the match.
Najhi said they are targeting a win against Al Wakrah.
“Our players have the determination and enthusiasm to make a strong comeback and correct the mistakes. We will do everything in our capacity to achieve victory over Al Wakrah.
“We know that the encounter is difficult because Al Wakrah are an organised team. We’ve analysed the games of Al Wakrah and we will look to exploit their weaknesses in order to collect three points,” he added.
Al Khor go into the match with four points from six matches, having collected one win and one draw so far in the campaign.
