Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani with Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy H E Josep Borrell.
New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani participated on Thursday in the ministerial meeting between Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy H E Josep Borrell.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said that holding the meeting provides an opportunity to exchange views on political, regional, and international issues to reach a shared vision that works to achieve the interests and objectives of both parties.
He expressed Qatar’s sincere desire to develop and strengthen Gulf-European relations and diversify their fields through the establishment of strategic partnership relations between the GCC and the EU, in accordance with the joint work programme for 2022-2027, which was approved in Brussels during the 26th session of the Joint Ministerial Council.
He added that the aspects of cooperation between the GCC and the EU are numerous with common goals and challenges, looking forward to the continuity and sustainability of these meetings to achieve them.
He expressed that Qatar is ready to welcome in November qualified teams and the EU fans, considering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament an opportunity to meet people from all over the world.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani participated in a high-level ministerial dinner organised by the State of Qatar in cooperation with the International Peace Institute and the Wilson Center on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The dinner was held to enrich the discussion, exchange views on the energy supply crisis and the global food crisis, which cast a shadow over several countries of the world, and review ways to enhance cooperation between the Middle East and the European Union to confront these challenges and global changes.
