Qatar suffered their second successive loss in as many days at the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Group A, going down against Denmark in Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
After their 60-run loss to Denmark, Qatar slumped to fourth in the points table. The team was handed 115-run drubbing by points leaders Canada on Sunday.
Qatar’s bid to win the title has been hit by injuries to several key players after they won the first two matches against Singapore and Malaysia.
Yesterday at the Selangor Turf Club, Denmark after winning the toss scored a total of 258-8 in 50 overs, with Hamid Shah (93) and FA Klokker (80) being their top scorers.
Both added 151 runs for the third wicket partnership to help Denmark post a challenging total. Zaheer Inrahim, with figures of 2-30, was the best performing bowler for Qatar.
In reply, Qatar were bowled out for 198 runs in 43.4 overs after their top order flopped against Denmark’s bowlers.
Mohammed Rizlan, who scored 63 runs, gave hope to Qatar but he received little support from batsmen down the order.
Qatar will play their last match of the event against Vanuatu on September 26.
