Leaders send greetings to Sultan Qaboos

Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has sent a cable of congratulations to H M Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman on the anniversary of his accession to the throne.
Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani sent a similar congratulatory cable to Sultan Qaboos.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also sent a greetings cable to Sultan Qaboos.

Congratulations sent to Al Sisi

Doha: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has sent a cable of congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on his country’s National Day.
Al Kuwari arrives in Morocco
Rabat: Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari yesterday arrived in Morocco to attend the opening of the 30th Asilah Cultural Festival being held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI.
Culture ministers from several Arab, African Asian and Latin American countries will attend.
At the opening ceremony, Al Kuwari will highlight culture in Qatar. The first festival was held in 1978, featuring performances, exhibitions, workshops and lectures. 

Souq festival attracts 45,000


DOHA: The six-day Souq Waqif Eid Festival ended yesterday evening, attracting about 45,000 visitors, according to Mohamed Al Salem, Director  of the souq.
The organising committee launched the event on the second day of Eid. Al Salem said the problem of hot weather was solved by setting up a huge air conditioned hall at Al Hamad Yard. Visitors included Qatari,  non-Qataris and GCC citizens.
One of the unique features of the festival was a Qatari women band playing traditional songs which were appreciated by visitors. Sumo children wrestlers entertained kids and the family. 
About 1,000 prizes were given to children who participated in events. Visitor Ali Al Marri said the festival was excellent and brought various events under one roof.

QU admission results on Aug 16 


DOHA: Qatar University will announce admission results on August 16 while the deadline for submitting documents is August 27. Orientation meetings will be held from August 1 to 10 and studies begin on August 13, Al Sharq reports. 
Any student who fails to attend orientation meetings will not be allowed to choose courses or attend classes of autumn of 2015. They will have to apply again in Spring of 2016.
The decision on the second term of postgraduate programme will be announced on August 6. All postgraduate students can access admission application status for more information, the university said.
