The Arab Finance Ministers’ emergency meeting started at the Arab League Secretariat headquarter, under the chairmanship of Tunisia, to discuss means to provide financial safety net and support the Palestinian Authority’s budget in the backdrop of the difficult situation imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities by deducting the amounts paid to the families of Palestinian martyrs and prisoners from the proceeds of exclusive Palestinian funds in violation of the 1994 Paris Agreement governing this relationship.
The State of Qatar is partaking in the meeting with a delegation headed by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador H E Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi. The meeting is convened at the invitation of the Arab League Secretary-General, in consultation and coordination with the Palestinian side to discuss the provision of a financial safety net to support the State of Palestine, in implementation of Arab Foreign Ministers’ emergency meeting held on April 12.
