Doha: Just Real Estate (JRE), Qatar’s leading property service provider, has now been officially registered as a professional real estate brokerage following the award by the Ministry of Justice of a licence to the company’s Chairman, Eng. Nasser Al Ansari (pictured) who is one of the first to be certified.
The JRE Chairman qualified for the license after completing a dedicated brokerage training course as part of the license qualification provisions of Law No. 22 of 2017 which addresses organisation of real estate brokerage practices. The law stipulates that a Qatari national can engage in the profession as a sole trader, whereas a non-Qatari can work as partner or broker under a Qatari manager.
“This is a welcome development which now enables all JRE employees to legally provide brokerage activities,” explained Eng. Al Ansari. “Qatar residents looking for a reliable, trustworthy and professional brokerage service should now seek out a licensed operator. Qatari law now requires operators to be licensed and we view this as a great move to bring regulation to the market which will guarantee quality of service and eliminate unlicensed, and sadly all too often, unqualified freelancers from bringing the profession into disrepute.”
Eng. Al Ansari said legal provisions that stipulate unlicensed brokers must be contracted to a licenced broker to perform any real estate activities brings added security to the marketplace. “The stipulation that any signed agreements, cheques, or deals should be signed by the registered broker delivers a greater sense of security to clients,” he said.
The Ministry has also outlined stiff penalties for any illegal brokerage activity that would invalidate the license. These include a three-month jail term and penalty fee of QR1,000 for violators.
The brokerage real estate law also ensures clients obtain secure transparency of service by requiring all licenced brokers to maintain full records that can track all mediation processes.
JRE says it will now ensure all its property owners are brought up to date with the provisions of the brokerage law to enable full adherence and quality of service.
