Doha: Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia H E Franklin Molina Ortiz called on the 6th Summit of GECF to enhance cooperation among members to ensure the quality of supplies and address the challenges faced by the natural gas industry.
In his speech at the GECF summit opening session , the Bolivian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy affirmed the importance of adopting solutions to ensure these supplies with high transparency and credibility, including defining a framework for changing production concepts.
He called on the 6th GECF Summit to adopt a new policy and strategy for natural gas based on the recent challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the energy transformation adopted by the Glasgow Summit to confront climate change.
Franklin Molina Ortiz valued the efforts of the countries participating in the drafting of the “Doha Declaration” issued by the 6th GECF Summit.
He also touched on his country’s efforts in the field of developing and modernizing the natural gas industry, stating that natural gas is now entering into various industries in Bolivia. In this context, he reviewed a number of its initiatives in this regard, such as expanding the electric power network to reach 90 percent of the population.
In November 2021, UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow approved a first-of-its-kind agreement, which provides for reducing the use of coal as it causes an increase in gaseous emissions into the atmosphere. Also, the agreement provides for reducing the rate of gas emissions and providing financial support for developing countries to adapt to the consequences of climate change to reduce the number of environmental risks to the planet.
