Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and Turkish Minister of Transport, Marine Affairs and Communications, Ahmet Arslan, announced yesterday the launch of an e-commerce platform Turkish Souq.
The online platform, which is expected to be available for Qatari market from January 1, will provide the local market with up to 5 million Turkish products.
Speaking at a press briefing on the sidelines of the International E-Commerce Conference in Turkey, the Minister emphasised the depth of Qatari-Turkish bilateral relations and constructive cooperation in the fields of post, transport, ports, and aviation, whose foundations were laid by H H the Emir and the Turkish President.
He said that the coming days will witness the signing of a cooperation agreement in the interest of the two fraternal countries. He also said the two sides share the same intentions that aim for developing the bilateral relations to the best format. The Turkish Minister affirmed the promotion of bilateral relations in the fields of transport, communications, and aviation to the highest level, adding that the national carriers in both countries are among the top air carriers in the world. Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti also announced that Qatar has obtained air transport routes to make flights to Trabzon, Bodrum, Adana and Antalya.
He said a tripartite cooperation agreement will be signed soon in the field of transport between Turkey, Qatar and Iran, which would help accelerate commodity delivery and facilitate trade exchange between the two countries.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi attended the press conference along with Qatar Post Chairman and Managing Director, Faleh Mohamed Al Naemi, and Turkey Post (PTT) Corporation Director-General Kenan Bozgeyik.
Meanwhile, Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti met with his Turkish counterpart Minister of Transport, Marine Affairs and Communications Ahmet Arslan.
The two officials discussed aspects of cooperation in the fields of transport, communications, ports and aviation and means of further enhancing them. They also reviewed the potential investment opportunities available in these industries, as well as a number of matters of common interest between the two friendly countries. The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi.
