Qatar’s Ameera Abo Jobara, bronze medal winner at the sixth edition of GCC Women’s Games in Kuwait.
KUWAIT: Qatar’s women fencing team won the bronze medal on the opening day of the prestigious sixth edition of GCC Women’s Games 2019 which got underway in Kuwait.
Team Qatar opened the campaign with a bronze medal in the foil class (individual) secured by fencer Ameera Abo Jobara, while her teammate, Lina Al Boainin reached the last eight stage.
On the same track of victory, Team Qatar defeated Bahraini counterparts 74-64 in the basketball event.
Qatari duo, Duha and Zikryat Rashid Al Abdullah alongside sisters Sara and Haya Fadi Diyab are due to compete in the Epee and Sabre classes today. While Qatar’s handball team will lock horns against hosts Kuwait on the same day.
The ten-day games are bringing together six GCC nations who are competing in 11 games.
Team Qatar delegation to the games is chaired by Lolwa Al-Marri, President of Qatar Women’s Sport Committee , accompanied by 132 athletes, administrators and technical staff members.
