Doha: Sheikha Mariam bint Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani died yesterday, aged 72, the Emiri Diwan said in a statement. Funeral prayers will be performed today after Asr (afternoon) prayer at Mohammed bin Abdulwahab Mosque.
Doha: Qatar will donate $10m in support of Norway’s initiative to gather emergency relief for South Sudan, Khaled Al Mansouri, Qatar’s Non-resident Ambassador to Oslo, said during a donors conference in the Norwegian capital. The conflict in the country since last December has led to mass displacement of people, destruction of markets, disruption of livelihoods and the deterioration of food security.
Doha: Albanian authorities announced that they cancelled entry visa requirements for Qataris, an official source at the Foreign Ministry said yesterday. The source said in a statement carried by Qatar News Agency that authorities also revealed that Qataris can travel to Albania at any time without applying for a visa in advance from May 25 to September 30.
Doha: Qatar Charity will spend QR13m on educational and agricultural projects in Gaza Strip. A statement by the organisation said it signed two agreements with the ministries of education and agriculture in Gaza. The projects aim at improving agricultural infrastructure and repairing schools damaged by rainfall.
DOHA: Students of Indian schools fared well in the CBSE-I (International) Class X examinations held in March this year. The results were announced yesterday. All the three schools — MES Indian School, Birla Public School and Shantiniketan Indian School — that offer the international stream secured 100 percent pass in the exams.
