Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at the Emiri Diwan.
It approved a draft law amending some provisions of law No. 8 of 1979 concerning press and publications and a draft decision of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage fixing licence fees for activities subject to law No. 8 of 1979 concerning press and publications.
The session also endorsed a Cabinet draft decision amending some administrative units the Finance Ministry is composed and fixing their functions.
According to the decision, a new Public Projects Organisation Department is to be added to the ministry to regulate public investment and non-investment projects for all organs whose budgets are financed by the State and propose policies and mechanisms to study, evaluate and follow-up projects and establish a data base.
The meeting then approved amendments to some provisions of the law No. 2 of 2011 concerning official statistics; a Cabinet draft decision exempting Al Bayader Qatar Company from income tax for one year; exempting Qatar Airways from government fees and rents at Doha International Airport for one year as of August 1, 2014; and a proposal of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs for hosting the fourth GCC Social Labour Festival in Doha on November 13-23, 2014.
The Cabinet reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of the law No. 26 of 2005 for issuing a law organising tenders and biddings and took note of the Advisory Council’s recommendation on such a draft law and took decision.
It also took measures to ratify the educational and scientific cooperation accord between Qatar and Belarus.
It approved a memorandum of understanding on health, veterinary and livestock production between the Environment Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture in Georgia.
