Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with HE Ahmed Al Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, to discuss regional and international developments during a meeting held at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
At the beginning of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed His Excellency the President and the accompanying delegation, expressing his hope that this visit would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two brotherly countries and elevating it to broader levels in various fields.
For his part, His Excellency the Syrian President expressed his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, affirming his country's keenness to develop and enhance cooperation with the State of Qatar in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
His Excellency the Syrian President also expressed his country's solidarity with the State of Qatar following the Iranian attacks on Qatar and several other countries in the region, and its support for the measures Qatar is taking to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens.
HH the Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Syrian Arab Republic's position and solidarity, and commended the cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries.
The two sides affirmed their commitment to supporting security and stability in the region. They also reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop it across various fields.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and a number of other senior officials.
From the Syrian side, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates HE Asaad Hassan Al Shaibani, and a number of other senior officials.
HH the Amir and His Excellency the Syrian President held a bilateral meeting, during which they exchanged views on key issues of mutual interest.
HH the Amir also hosted an official luncheon in honor of His Excellency the Syrian President and his accompanying delegation.
