Qatar-Kyrgyzstan bilateral relations now in its 25th year have reached a new level of partnership and are now “future-oriented.”

This was said by Kyrgyzstan Ambassador to Qatar, H E Chyngyz Eshimbekov in a recent interview in celebration of the silver anniversary of relations between the two countries.

“Our bilateral relations are future-oriented and we have huge plans for the future. The most important factor is that our leaders have mutual understanding and agreement to develop our multi-faceted relations,” the envoy told The Peninsula.

He revealed that a number of agreements have been developed over the last few years and are ready to be signed. These partnerships cover economic, cultural, sports, tourism and educational collaboration.

The ambassador did not divulge details of agreements or memorandum of understandings (MoU), instead said that they will be signed “when the occasion arrives” as everything is ready for signature.

The Qatar and Kyrgyzstan established ties on March 3, 1998.  In the past two decades, there have been numerous official visits of top officials from each country. The number of agreements and MoUs already signed between the two countries in various fields has reached 16, according to the Kyrgyzstan Embassy in Qatar.

Among the signed agreements and MoUs are: letter of intent for cooperation between the Qatari Ministry of Interior and the Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Interior, memorandum of understanding signed between Qatar Red Crescent and Kyrgyz Red Crescent in Bishkek, memorandum of understanding signed between the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar and the Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic in Doha, and agreement for reciprocal exemption of entry visas for the holders of diplomatic and private passport.

Meanwhile, as part of the 25th anniversary of Qatar-Kyrgyzstan ties, the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, and the Kyrgyzstan Embassy in Qatar hosted a musical event called “The Kyrgyz Culture through Music, Patterns, and Ornaments,” which was presented by the folklore and ethnographic theatre “Ordo Sakhna.”
