Kami Sabitov guiding Quintendro over a hurdle during the Big Tour event on day one of the 2020 Amir’s Sword Festival, yesterday.
Kami Sabitov of Kyrgyzstan yesterday guided Quintendro to Big Tour win on day one of the 2020 Amir’s Sword Festival at Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF) Outdoor Arena.
The 14-year-old gelding clocked a time of 71.69 seconds in the 135/145 cm class competition. Sabitov, just 21, won QR11,000 for his flawless ride with Quintendro.
Quintendro finished the QR40,000 event ahead of Happy Feet, who was ridden by Qatar’s Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi. Happy Feet was trifle slower than Quintendro as it finished with a time of 76.50 seconds. Al Suwaidi won QR8,000.
The third place was secured by S I E C Lonnie, who had Qatar’s Hamad Nasser Al Qadi in the saddle. S I E C Lonnie clocked 80.66 seconds as Al Qadi won QR6,000.
Quel Homme, ridden by Nasser Al Ghazali (82.90 seconds, QR4,000) and Saeed Nasser Al Qadi (Andreas SPB Z, 83.52 seconds, QR2,800) completed the top five out of a field of 11 entries.
Earlier in the Medium Tour battle for top honours, there was no stopping seasoned Qatari rider Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi who guided Dilandra to the win.
Al Qadi, who has won numerous events in recent years, produced yet another sublime run with Dilandra to claim the top honours. Dilandra clocked a time of 64.08 seconds as Al Qadi won QR7,500.
In second place was Quick Step, ridden by Mohammed Saeed Haidan. Quick Step clocked a time of 72.66 seconds as Haidan won QR6,000 for his podium finish.
Dollar Van De Zuuthoeve, who had Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser Al Thani in the saddle, finished with a time of 75.27 seconds. The third place was worth QR4,500.
Numero Uno - T, ridden by Ghanim Nasser Al Qadi, (75.55 seconds, QR3,000) and Dubaii, which was ridden by Alqaqa Adel Nassar (77.20 seconds, QR 2,100) completed the top five.
Earlier yesterday in the Small Tour battle, Ali Mohammed Al Mari strode to a superb win with Fernhill Friendly Touch to victory at the outdoor arena of QEF.
Al Marri clocked a time of 57.96 seconds to claim the top prize of QR5,000 after the 13-year-old gelding produced a sublime run.
Born To Joy, ridden by Mohammed Jabor Al Naimi, finished in second spot. Al Naimi picked up QR4,000 as Born To Joy clocked a time 63.61 seconds.
Jalieny Diamant Z, who had Saeed Hamad Jumaa in the saddle, wrapped up the proceedings by finishing in third place. Jalieny Diamant Z clocked 65.29 seconds as Jumaa won QR3,000 for his efforts.
Graffiti De Lully CH, ridden by Saeed Hamad Al Rashdi, (66.93 seconds QR2,000) and Dino BB Z, who had Mohammed Al Ghazali in the saddle (67.68 seconds QR1,400) completed the top five out of 33 riders.
Vodafone Qatar are the official sponsors of the championship. The two-day event is also supported by Lexus (who are offering two cars as prizes) along with Al Emadi Enterprises and Hassad Food.
The organisers have put together a series of activities to keep young riders engaged and their accompanying family members, it was announced yesterday.
Last year, experienced young rider Faleh Suwead Al Ajami posted the biggest win of his career by guiding Carport to victory in the Big Tour competition on day three of the Amir’s Golden Sword Championships.
Carport, aged 13, clocked 78.41 seconds for an impressive total score of 01.92 points as Al AJami won the Amir’s Golden Sword over a field of seven riders on the Outdoor Arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF).
Al Ajami received the Golden Sword from the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at a special prize distribution ceremony held at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).
Mohammed bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman of the board of directors of the QEF, yesterday praised the riders for ‘their outstanding performances’.
“The riders continue to show improvement. Many of these riders will be seen in action across Europe and other continents in the coming weeks and months,” the chairman said.
“We are seeing great enthusiasm from the riders and that is a delightful characteristic usually sought from young riders,” he added.
