Football giants Al Rayyan yesterday went on a goal-scoring spree to post a 4-0 win over Al Sailiyah in their QNB Stars League (QSL) Cup Round four clash yesterday.

The win at the Grand Hamad Stadium was Al Rayyan’s fourth consecutive win.

In the 32nd minute, feared striker Rodrigo Tabata gave Al Rayyan the lead with a goal on a direct free-kick that sailed above the wall and crashed into the net.

Tabata, the former Qatar national team player, doubled the lead just into the first minute of the second half.

Lucca Borges Brito spotted Tabata unmarked on the edge of the Al Sailiyah box and slipped in a neat short cross. Tabata surjed ahead with the ball and slotted it past keeper Abdraman Mahamat Aziz for his side’s second goal.

In the 67th minute, Mohamed Alawi deflected from close range to scored Al Rayyan’s third goal.

In the 75th minute, Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Harazi fired a long-range bullet to score Al Rayyan’s fourth goal of the match.

Earlier, at the Al Sadd Stadium, a goal in each half powered Al Ahli yesterday to a convincing 2-0 win over Al Shahaniya.

It was Al Ahli’s second win in QSL Cup while Al Shahaniya are yet to register their first victory.

In the 36th minute, Ali Fereydoun easily converted a penalty after he was brought down by Al Shahaniya keeper Amer Ahmad Al Amri.

Al Amri dived to his right and Fereydoun drove the ball to the left for his side’s opening goal.

In the dying second of the second half, Al Ahli put a 2-0 ring to their performances when U-23 player Mohamed Yasseen charged into the Al Shahaniya box and drove the ball with his left foot.

The ball beat Al Shahaniya keeper Al Amri before crashing into the net.

Later, hosts Al Sadd fought for a 2-2 draw against Al Khor.

The home team opened the scoring through Hassan Ahmed in the 7th minute. After receiving a cross from the flank, Ahmed beat two defenders to the ball and then easily deflected it into the net from close range with Al Khor keeper Yousef Hassan Awad in no position to stop the ball.

In the 31st minute, Al Khor equalised off a penalty kick. Ahmed Hassan Al Mohannadi converted from the spot after Al Sadd keeper brought down an Al Khor attacker with a reckless tackle.

Referee Abdulhadi Alasmar Al Ruaile pointed to the spot and Al Mohannadi scored easily.

Al Khor jumped to a 2-1 lead when Salem Khalifa found the net on a penalty in the 38th minute.

In the 84th minute, Aladeen Suleiman Younes headed home in spectacular fashion as Al Sadd found the equaliser late in the second half.
