Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia's labor productivity per hour worked grew 3.8 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, according to official data.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the total hours worked in the country increased 1.3 percent year-on-year to 9.8 billion hours.
Labor productivity per employment also increased 3.6 percent year-on-year to record a value added per employment of 26,052 ringgit (6,268 U.S. dollars) per person.
According to the DOSM, the sectoral performance for labor productivity measured as value added per hour worked for the quarter was supported by growth across all sectors.
"Malaysia's labor productivity is well positioned for a resilient and positive outlook, with growth recorded across all sectors of the economy, driven by stable economic conditions and labor market reforms," DOSM chief statistician Mohd Uzir Mahidin said.
"Thus, the strategy in human capital development should be strengthened by continuous investment in digital transformation, communication, and analytics, as future productivity gains rely heavily on skills development and technology adoption," he added.
