New York: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani attended a reception ceremony held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the occasion of announcing a new collaboration with Qatar Museums.
HH the Amir toured the museum and visited the Met’s Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and Later South Asia, to view its archaeological and historic holdings, as well as its Islamic manuscripts and artwork. In recognition of Qatar’s support, a gallery presenting art from the Umayyad and Abbasid Periods (7th–13th centuries) will be named the Qatar Gallery. His Highness was also briefed during the tour on the outcome of the fruitful cooperation between Qatar Museums and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Afterwards, HH the Amir attended a luncheon banquet held for that occasion.
The ceremony was attended by Chairperson of Qatar Museums HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, a number of Their Excellencies members of the accompanying official delegation, ranking officials, and guests of the reception ceremony.
