Car rolls over and falls from a bridge on Doha Expressway

Doha: A major accident took place last night on the February 22 Street on Doha Expressway (Al Shamal Road).

A car fell from the Khalifa Al-Attiyah intersection on to the February 22 street underpass, which runs below the intersection.

According to traffic officials the car, which was over speeding, failed to obey traffic signal and rolled over the railings of  Khalifa Al-Attiyah intersection and fell on to the street below.

The Interior Ministry said in a post on Twitter that " A traffic accident occurred last night at Khalifa Al Atiyya Intersection due to overspeed and failure to obey the traffic signals, that caused the car to fall off the bridge to February 22 road. "

Ministry of Interior called on all motorists to "abide by the rules and guidelines of traffic and not to exceed the speed limit on the road," noting that this "contributes to your safety and others."

UPDATE: In a report by the Al Sharq newspaper, they have quoted a source as saying that there could be another car involved in the incident and the investigators are probing what caused the accident using the footage from various cameras.

The report also stated that a 4-year-old girl died in the accident and the father, who was driving during the incident, is in intensive care. Mother and another child were also present in car when it fell from the bridge.
