Qatar U-23 team will play its first match against Thailand.
Doha: Qatar’s U-23 team management yesterday named national squad for the Dubai International Championship, which will be played from March 23 to 29.
A total of 10 teams including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Japan, China, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Thailand and Croatia besides hosts UAE and Qatar are taking part in the tournament.
The tournament will be held in three rounds, with each team playing their respective first and second rounds matches on March 23 and 26. Qatar will play their first match against Thailand and will take on Japan in their second round match.
Qatar are participating in the event as part of their preparations for the AFC U-23 Cup to be held in Uzbekistan in June.
Qatar booked spot in the continental tournament after topping their group in qualifiers held last November.
